The Life-Changing and Magical Home Office Transformation You NEED to See

Theres so much that went into this entire project, even describing the experience in words was a challenge. But I know you’re here because you want some type of understanding of this magical client transformation.

First and foremost, before we built, painted, or decorated, we DECLUTTERED. This may not be your favorite step but in order for this project to be where it is today, a deep dive into the clutter was pivotal. Below are some snapshots of when I first arrived at my clients’ home.

Decluttering, removing, and elimination is my SPECIALITY and it was quite simple to discern what needed to leave the space. While it looks like a lot, it didn’t take much to figure out what exactly was piled in my client’s bedroom. From books to paper, clothes, and lots and lots of beauty items (see that post here).

Apart from Organize for Love’s decluttering process includes tackling the largest category, my clients happen to be beauty (hair, makeup, and skin products). Their beauty happens to be buried underneath the dresser you seen pictured above. When we began clearing off the dresser, we focused only on beauty, what was keep, trash, or donation.

While going through the dresser, we came across other items which we set aside simultaneously. One category was paper (bills, receipts, important documents, notes, notebooks, etc) which we put in plastic bags to sort through next, since it was the second largest category.

One of the BIGGEST challenges my clients are faced with is knowing which category to start with, the second biggest challenge is sticking to that category until it’s complete. No matter what we came across, our focus was always gathering beauty, and sorting through what was keep, trash, or donation.

You can see more of this transformation on my IGTV with a satisfying time-lapse of our declutter sessions.

After decluttering began the organization and decorating phase which I’ll admit had its hiccups. What helped to iron things out was following my initial sketch and vision for this corner. And the day was saved with The Container Store and KonMari collection which we used to organize my client’s paperwork and office supplies.

With a few additions, like shelving, a new desk, greenery, a new paper organization system, and the beautifully designed collection by Marie Kondo it REALLY tied everything together.

The Container Store x KonMari collection is after my heart because it’s made using sustainable materials such as bamboo, ceramic, recycled fiberboard, cotton and wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. The collection unites the storage and organization mastery of The Container Store with the tidy and joyful ethos of Marie Kondo which I’m here for.

As soon as I seen the Home Office collection, I knew it would work well for my client’s office corner. And it was an absolute honor to give my client’s bedroom the love it needed.

Rebekah Christie began creating accessories in 2009 when she was living in Philadelphia. She was having trouble getting use to Philly being her permanent residence so she stayed home for months. She then began designing headbands and hair accessories. She was discovering her inner designer which was the beginning of "Make it Happen". She grew up in a very creative household where her parents promoted and delved in the arts themselves. With the support and help from them she began a line of headbands, bangles, hair bows, and feather earrings. She sold her pieces at street festivals and markets in Philadelphia. In 2010 she moved back to New York, settling into Brooklyn for the next three years. Since she began her journey as a jewelry designer, she has built a following throughout New York City. Charmed Feathers has been sold at shops in Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and D.C. CF has also been sold in France and Canada. "The guidelines I follows are adapted from my family and into my designs. Myfather is a man that does not fear color, and Charmed Feathers accessories are always colorful and vibrant. My mother is a woman who taught me to be myself and to not follow the crowd. I like to believe that being true to yourself is as natural as you can get". -Rebekah Christie In 2012 she attended the Art Institute of New York majoring in Fashion Merchandise and Marketing. She's currently attending Borough Manhattan Community College majoring in Business Management. She continues to be a self taught designer and educate herself on entrepreneurship
