Happy New Year everyone, here’s my FIRST post of 2021!

I want to first start by saying, I struggled with this tool I’m also raving about because my apartment just had to be different.

What I’m using to organize my laundry room AND underneath my kitchen sink is an Elfa system from the Container Store. If you don’t know, Elfa, is one of TC's tried and true products. The particular product I used is my absolute favorite because its MADE FOR small apartments. Its genius in its set up, break down, and customization. Find more information about Elfa here!

I’ll share more about why I struggled to install this easy and inexpensive organization tool.

I wanted to create a system that was easy, efficient, and could stand the test of time. With my cleaning products underneath my kitchen sink and my laundry detergent sitting on top of my broiler, I knew the perfect solution was the use vertical space.

A lot of professional organizers and interior decorators stress the use of vertical space, especially smaller spaces like apartments. Its actually one of the only viable options to “create space“ and make it function. Often people opt for non-mounted shelving which IS the logical option.

Except I take it another small but logical step further with removing things off the floor. Rather than floor shelves, mounting your shelves creates a more spacious and less clutter feel in the room.

Understandably, non-renters who have concerns about receiving their deposit back would rather not puncture any serious holes in their walls. While some landlords offer flexibility and are a bit more lenient with modifications to the space.

That’s why this tool is a perfect solution to create space without cluttering the space.

Our laundry room is pretty straight forward, there’s detergent, basket for dirty clothes, and back of door rack for broom and iron board which still needs a home. One thing I really wanted to create with our new Elfa Door Rack were homes for items that didn’t quite have one. Like our masks, fly swatter, and new collection of travel hand sanitizers.

This system can be used for a wardrobe and your accessories or a utility closet and electronics, the possibilities are endless.
